Oxidation-Tools needed Pepsi Vinegar Water Copper Oxide Bowl
Direction: You get small bowls of Pepsi, vinegar and water along with three pennies covered in copper oxide. Ask students to place one penny in each bowl. After waiting 15 minutes, instruct students to remove their pennies from the liquids and compare the amount of copper oxide remaining.
Crystal Growth-Tools needed A cup or small bowl 1/2 cup of Epson salt (magnesium sulfate) 1/2 cup hot tap water (optional) a drop of food coloring
Directions: Add the ingredients together in your bowl or cup. Stir the solution until all the salt is dissolved. There may be some crystals still at the bottom, but that's ok. Place the cup or bowl in the refrigerator and let it sit for 3 hours. You can carefully scoop the crystals out of your bowl or cup to get a better look at them.

Directions: Observe rocks in areas where a new road is being built. Observe rocks in sidewalks or rock walls. Observe rocks at the beach or in streams where water washes over them. Observe rocks in areas where there is a lot of wind.
